Controversy surrounds local EMMY award-winning documentary filmmaker Stephanie Castillo’s most recent film “Cockfighters: The Interviews.” The film was released as an 8-hour DVD collection of some 26 interviews with local and mainland cockfighters in which Castillo asks the interviewees to explain cockfighting from their point of view. She talks about why she made the film, the controversy following its release, and the importance of independent filmmakers taking on controversial subjects such as this. |
